Communities and everyday life

What will life look like in twenty years?

Think about homes, neighbourhoods, transport and shared spaces. Discuss a fictional town or city rather than your personal circumstances.

The best possible future

  • What will make neighbourhoods comfortable and welcoming?
  • How will people be travelling, meeting others and spending time together?
  • By then, what will the town have built or improved?

The worst possible future

  • What will make everyday life difficult?
  • How will people be living if housing, transport and public services become worse?
  • By then, what useful places or services will the community have lost?

The most likely future

  • What will have changed in an ordinary neighbourhood?
  • How will people be using public spaces and local services?
  • What will still look much like it does today?

Prepare to report back

Choose one main prediction for each future. Include an example and a reason. You can report a disagreement if your group has different views.
