Asking about a hotel reservation

In this activity, you will interact with a hotel customer service agent.

Your aim is to make several enquiries about your booking using polite, indirect question forms.

Situation

You have already booked a hotel room online. Now you need to contact the hotel to discuss a few requests and questions about your stay.

What you need to ask about:

  • You would prefer a room on the ground floor because you dislike lifts (claustrophobia).
  • You are travelling with your wife and your son, so you need to request an extra bed.
  • You have an appointment at a museum at 9:00 and would like to arrange a taxi in advance.
  • You would like to know what time breakfast is served.
  • You want to check whether the hotel has fast Wi-Fi.
  • Your return flight leaves at 5:00 pm, so you would like to request a late check-out at 2:00 pm.

Important

Try to make all your questions polite and indirect. Avoid very direct forms like “I want…” or “Can you…?”. Instead, use softer language to sound more natural and appropriate.
