Roleplay: Buying a board game
In this speaking activity, you are going to work together to choose a board game to buy. You have six options to choose from.
In your groups, read through the options and discuss the following questions:
- Does this look like a fun game?
- Have you ever played a game like this?
When you have discussed the different games, take turns to talk to the Modern Robot shop assistant who will help you select a game.
1. Castle Builders
- Players: 2–4
- Age: 10+
- Time: 45–60 minutes
- Type: Strategy / building
- Description: Players compete to build the best medieval castle using limited resources.
- Why people like it: Easy to learn, but still requires planning
- Good for: Beginners moving into strategy games
2. Space Traders

- Description: You travel between planets, buying and selling goods to make profit.
